The musical is about the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and it tells their own version of the story.
The love Orpheus had for Eurydice was so strong that it made him for her to the underworld to rescue her from the vicious King Hades. As the storyline implies, love is a really beautiful thing that makes people act do crazy things. This love story didn’t just stop at the star couple; it also highlighted a bit the love life of King Hades and his wife, Persephone. The original version of the musical premiered in the town of Barre, Vermont, in 2006. A newer version of it was later created and premiered off-Broadway on May 6, 2016, at the New York Theatre Workshop. The show premiered in previews on Broadway in March 2019.
