To Kill a Mockingbird play is based on the 1960 novel bearing the same name by Harper Lee, and it was adapted for the stage by Aaron Sorkin.
The musical is a story about a carefree, privileged girl. She finally realizes that life is not always as it seems after Scout watches her father, Atticus Finch, defend an innocent man, Tom Robinson, against a potential death sentence, which looms threateningly against him because of prejudice due to race. With the help of Atticus, and her older brother Jem, Scout was able to learn that “growing up” often means doing what is right, even when it comes at great cost. It is a play about prejudice, family life, and courage.
To Kill a Mockingbird opened on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on December 13, 2018, and have since then intrigued its viewers. You are sure to learn a thing or two from the wonderful play.
