The Al Hirschfeld is on 8th Ave a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. The theatre currently houses Moulin Rouge! the Musical. It's...
Well put together show, I was pleasantly surprised how well they used modern day music to blend into their performance. Also it was a nice surprise to have Boy George apart of the cast and sing a small clip from Karma Chameleon at the end of the show. If your a fan of the 80's definitely worth a trip.

Theater is decent. Seating is a little tight. The clientele seems to be a lot of either suburban or out of towners, who don’t seem to know etiquette with watching a show. Many people talk, saying, and are just generally distracting. The staff was nice enough.View the website to get an accurate snapshot of where your seat is as there is an overhang, and the mezzanine may or may not be blocking your view
WOW!!!!! all I can say is this was one of the best experiences of my whole life. Me and my wife's first broadway show and we just can't get over it. Boy...
The Moulin Rouge musical is one of the best Broadway Show I saw. The costumes, decor, lighting, singing and dancing were amazing. It really puts you in this late 19’s cabaret vibe. I recommend!
We went to see Moulin Rouge! The Musical! I loved the theater, it was amazing with a 1920’s art deco design! The musical had a mix up of new music with a glitzy backdrop! Highly recommend!
Saw Moulin Rouge at this theatre with my partner. Was seated in the upper lobby, I felt the seating is cramped up but otherwise loved the theater and the show! 5 stars to the show!
The show was amazing! The staff however are just rude and pushy. I get it when you are dealing with mass amount of people and most of them don't listen but it takes the same effort to be nice and friendly as it does to be rude. The customer walks away happier too! But the show (Moulin Rouge) was amazing!!!
Great cozy theater. Currently hosting Moulin Rouge ensemble. Bathrooms are easy to get to. Snak and drink stand is equally easy to access. Well managed by the super helpful staff, both outside and inside the theater. A very smooth experience. The setup for the show is phenomenal. You will be transported.
If you are visiting New York or live here and have the opportunity to see Moulin Rouge go see it. Worth every penny! The theatre is beautiful with amazing talent. At intermission the concession line was organized with 3 attendants making the line move pretty quickly. You have enough time to get a drink go to the bathroom and take selfies before the show restarts. The to go cups say moulin rouge on them so you get a cute souvenir cup you can reuse.I highly recommend.
Small but nice theater. Audience part has very small space for legs, but this was expected. Even in the mezzanine, you have a good view of stage. We have been there to watch Moulin Rouge.
We saw Moulin Rouge and the show was fantastic. The energy was magnetic and the performance was so lively and energetic. The entire audience was captivated from the moment the show began through its ending. Our seats were far right orchestra and we had an excellent view of the stage and all the different set changes. The theater is beautiful and well maintained. The bartenders were the loveliest and friendliest people. The ushers were less warm and inviting, though and at times were a little bristly.
The Al Hirschfeld Theatre is an older venue that appears to be well-maintained and well-run. Many have commented that the seats & leg space are somewhat small (TRUE; but I guess people were much smaller a hundred years ago). At 5'10" tall & average weight, I found my seat to be reasonably comfortable for the roughly 2h40m duration of "Moulin Rouge". // During intermission, the lobby & bar areas were predictably crowded/packed. But somehow, most everyone did their business, got their drinks, & were back in their seats in plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the show. // There are several subway stops nearby (about 2-3 blocks), so within easy walking distance. And a ton of bars & restaurants are nearby to enjoy after the show.
I was blessed to be a le to get a ticket to see Moulin Rouge! The theatre was phenomenal. The seating is a little small for a person of my stature (almost 7foot) but I wa able to get an end row seat where I was able to get comfortable. The whole theatre is so ornate and dripping in gilded gold everywhere. Courtney Reed was spectacular as Sadine! You must see this show.
Great! Theater with a lovely atmosphere. Chairs are a bit small and narrow, but that's ok. Moulin Rouge is a very entertaining musical, amazing scenery, great selection of music. We really enjoyed.
Came to watch Moulin Rouge the Musical and what a wonderful experience! The show was magical and delightful and the theatre is well set up.
Fantastic show! We loved seeing the production of Moulin Rouge at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre from the set to the cast and crew a great place to experience a live show!!
Opened in 1924, this iconic Broadway theatre with a 1,424 capacity is located in the Times Square area of NYC. I enjoyed the show Moulin Rouge. Purchasing...
The set for Moulin Rouge in this theatre is incredibly well done. They also provide a lottery through Lucky Seat which is relatively easy to win - perhaps once every few months or so and is reasonably priced at $45 per person. The seats they give for lottery are extremely limited view though as they are front side orchestra and much of the action happens in the rear stage. The ushers are ... oftentimes quite rude. I understand they're telling people (rightly) not to take pictures when the actors come out, but I feel like they should be more understanding when newcomers take pictures before the show starts since I don't think any other theatre doesn't allow pictures before the show actually starts. That isn't to say that all the ushers are rude, but I've seen several yell at attendees aggressively while correcting them so I definitely think it's the culture of the theatre.Merch area on the first floor is in the middle of a hallway and there isn't much room so it can get quite crowded there.Stage door is out the doors nearest right orchestra. Turn left when you exit the doors to get to the stage door. Not everyone comes out every night but many often make an appearance. They'll let you know when no one else is coming out that night.
The seats were small and close together but it did nt matter, I saw Moulin Rouge which was amazing. T
Today my daughter and I visited the musical “Moulin Rouge”. The scenery is divine, the costumes are bright and beautiful, the actors are professionals 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I recommend it 👍
Fabulous theater.. plush, regal. One of the few not in the Schubert Organization which meant I count not fill my refillable soda cup. Not really a bad seat...
MOULIN ROUGE was simply stunning!!! Our expectations were far exceeded. We have seen numerous musicals on Broadway, the West End and the Strip, but this performance beats them all. An incredible show of the highest quality from the first bar to the last. An absolute must see!
This theater is really nice, they really went all out on the immersion into the Moulin Rouge. The theater was much smaller than I expected, but in a good way. For $100 I felt like I was literally in the show. Worth every penny.
First time here seeing Moulin Rouge. Loved the theater, it's old has class and lots to see inside. Only downfall is men's room is upstairs haha. Has a bar upstairs and downstairs. Would recommend going to see the show or just the theater...
The only complaint I have is that the women's restrooms were in the basement, and the mens restrooms were on every floor. Plus, there's no leg room unless you're in the first row. Other than these two issues, the place was fabulous.
Moulin Rouge is a must-see show on Broadway! Very energetic and modern show with talented artists and amazinf costumes!
Rogelio Del Toro
Speechless, Moulin Rouge was just spectacular. It's no coincidence they have so many awards, a must visit when in NYC.
Moulin Rogue has a grandiose decor and staging, a nice setup to see upon entering the theater. Seating has the typical shortened leg room, seen in many...
This location is actually really easy to reach with the subway, you just need to walk for a bit when you get off. The line for broadway shows moves really fast so don't worry about that. Even the highest and farthest rows allow people to enjoy the show pretty nicely. The only flaw to point out is that the toilets are not that many and the lines can get very long so make sure you go before the show starts (or move fast enough at the beginning of the intermission to manage to get there before most of the other people).
Great decent sized Broadway theater that we went to the first time ever. Saw Moulin Rouge here. Am imagining it could seat maybe around 500-800 guest?...
If you want to have a memorable evening on Broadway - this is it! We got last minute tickets to Moulin Rouge and the view from the balcony was nothing short...
Great little theater that despite the crampedness of the seats still gave an excellent view of the stage throughout. Friendly staff and very well-maintained interior. If it weren't for the smallness of the seats and how little room there was to move about I'd give it 5 stars, but as it is, 4 (or 4 and a half, really) is the best I can give.
Took my daughter to New York for her sweet 16. Of course we had to get a show in. I love this theater. We found tickets on the low on SeatGeek. The location was right around the corner from our hotel. We immensely enjoyed Moulin Rouge. Would love to see it again.
This theater was completely decked out for moulin rouge, such an amazing experience. This is one of the most fun shows I’ve ever seen. We sat in the middle/back of orchestra and the seats were perfect. I highly recommend coming to see this show, especially with Jojo as the lead!!! So much fun, I’m not over it!
