The famous musical looks set to return to Oklahoma City. Even though it has been touring North America for two decades, this hit show is still the King on Broadway.
Just as Broadway on OKC begins its post-covid-19 routine, the presenters of the national tour show are bringing the musical back to Oklahoma City to play for the third time. The show continues until May 29.
Since its last show at the OKC, this movie has been recreated by using a more realistic computer-assisted rendering for its 2019 movie as it makes its debut on Disney+. This means that younger fans can now see the two movies that have been created for the title.
The Lion King, a six-time winner of the Tony awards, shows on May 12 at the Civic Center. The show continues to move its audiences, despite multiple viewings. This is more than three times that I am seeing this musical and I am still captivated at the point, where Rafiki, played by Gugwana Diamini makes the move to begin the “Circle of Life.”
Three performers on the show have tight toes to the city of Oklahoma: singers of the show, Christin Byrdsong and Isaiah Bailey were both students at the Oklahoma State University, while Layla Brent, a dancer who previously worked at the Oklahoma City Ballet.
Family audiences still fancy this show as it looks to celebrate its 25 years of showing on Broadway.
