West Side Story: A Broadway Classic Dances Its Way to India

A Modern Take on a Timeless Tale

Under the expert direction of Broadway veteran Lonny Price, this contemporary rendition of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ will grace the stage of The Grand Theatre, the Cultural Centre’s premier performing arts venue, from August 16 to 27.

Nita Ambani, the founder and chairperson, expressed her delight at bringing another iconic Broadway musical to India for the first time, stating, “This aligns with our vision of presenting the best of India to the world and vice versa.”

A Love Story Set in 1950s New York

‘West Side Story’ spins the tale of Tony and Maria, two young lovers caught in a whirlwind of life-altering events unfolding on the streets of 1950s New York. The Grand Theatre’s acoustically superior space will amplify the dramatic musical, as an extraordinary ensemble of 34 performers and a live 20-piece orchestra catapult the audience into a rollercoaster of emotions. This is further enhanced by hit songs such as ‘Maria’, ‘Tonight’, ‘Somewhere’, ‘America’, and more. 🎶
