“A magical Broadway musical with brains, heart, and courage.”
If you are not already familiar with Wicked, the musical looks at the events in the Land of Oz, but long before Dorothy arrives. The narrative, which is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire follows the life of a young woman, who despite her intellect, and talent, is misunderstood due to emerald-green skin and fiery temperament. In her escapades, she meets a blonde who is the opposite of her persona; bubbly and popular. They eventually become friends until the world decides to call one “wicked” and the other “good” – you can guess who is who.
Thanks to music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, the musical boasts of a thrilling score that includes masterpieces such as “For Good,” “Popular,” and “Defying Gravity.” Joe Mantello (Tony Award winner) directs a creative team Wayne Cilento (Tony Award winner) who is responsible for musical staging, and Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone (producers).
