Broadway is closer to Maren Morris than ever as she looks forward to starring in the production. This Thursday (August 11th), the singer announced that she had been selected to play Elphaba Thropp in Wicked, the Broadway musical.

Maren Morris was all smiles as she revealed her callback from Broadway to feature in the musical for Broadway. She announced the good news on Twitter that same day, expressing a pleasant surprise.
She reveals the good news barely a few months after she had announced her audition for the show on Broadway. This year, in May, Morris announced her made her intentions known that she was going to be to taking part in the audition for the show.

In that same chat on Twitter, a fan had asked her about her role between Glinda and Elphaba, who are both main characters in the show. Morris had replied that she had heavily identified with the role of Elphaba.
It was always common knowledge that Morris was prepared for a life as a green skin while being able to hit any given high note.

Morris isn’t the only one celebrating her triumph, Kristin Chenoweth, one of the first cast members also showed her some love. Chenoweth played the original character of Glinda on the show. Wicked made its debut at the Gershwin Theatre in 2003, and starring Idina Menzel (who plays the original role of Elphaba and Chenoweth as Glinda).

Taking to her Instagram, Morris kept on expressing her gratitude saying how she hopes to go beyond this stage and try to achieve something that seems elusive to her. She went on to give thanks to the people who had been there for her. She expressed her happiness while also saying how much she loves the ‘Wicked’ as a franchise. She went on to profess her love for Elphaba, while also singling Kristin Chenoweth out as the main inspiration for her sending her tape in for the auditions.
